
Diplomatic relations between Jordan and Austria were established in 1956 and the Embassy in Vienna was opened in 1992. As well as Austria, it is accredited to Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia and the Czech Republic. It is also Jordan’s Mission to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), United Nations Offices in Vienna (UNOV), Preparatory commission for the comprehensive nuclear-test-ban treaty Organization(CTBTO), United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL),United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), Hague Code of Conduct against Ballistic Missile Proliferation (HCOC) , and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). In addition, the Embassy covers the activities of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) and various think tanks, non-governmental organizations and specialized studies institutes. Four Diplomats assist H.E. the Ambassador in discharging the Embassy’s functions and duties.
